9 Weeks

It was unseasonably warm and sunny today. Little Miss Anne must be going through a growth spurt as she was resting peacefully in her crib for much of it. She woke up in wonderful spirits, nursed and promptly overflowed her teeny size one diaper. After giving her a quick bath in the sink, we took these photos and got ready for the park. Light was streaming into the living room, so I scooped up the changing pad and carried her over to the window. She seemed amused by the ride and appeared to delight in being photographed.

I'm generally not a fan of naked photos but she was being so sweet and I wanted to capture the moment. Anne wore denim overalls and a colorful, striped hoodie to the park. It was very breezy and her hair was blowing about. We chatted with the neighborhood families and she garnered many admiring smiles. When we returned from the home, the whole house was bathed in warm light. She slipped easily into her car seat and we drove up to Deerfield for a lovely dinner with the family. It was a most perfect day.

Be mine

Anne turned 6 weeks old this Valentine's Day. She was 8 1/2 lbs last week and now starting to grow out of her newborn clothes. She has been teasing me with hints of a smile for several days now and am pretty sure they've been a few "real" ones. Wherever we go, people fawn over her long, spikey hair. I love how soft and fluffy it gets after bath time. I took a "bath class" at the hospital and learned a nice method for shampooing it. Provided she isn't too sleepy, she seems to relish having her hair washed. She is similarly content having her diaper changed. She is increasingly interested in looking at toys. The first toy she showed interest in was "Blue Dog."

Big brother

A number of people have asked me how Elijah has been adjusting to our new addition.... the short answer is, beautifully. Will write more soon but thought I'd share this cute photo of him as a "ninja." He banged his head on a bookshelf and we used the belt of my bathrobe to attach an orphaned sock ice pack to his forehead!

My water broke at 4:00am on January 3rd, we arrived at Prentice Hospital a few hours later. Here we are in the triage area.

Elijah has been in wonderful spirits. He is very helpful around the house, fetching things for Mommy and even lugging groceries up the stairs this afternoon. He is rather camera shy and I bribed him with a lollipop to get this shot.

The whole family came over to help celebrate Anne's first Shabbat. Darling Max was very excited to give kisses to his new cousin, what a sweetie!

Birthday celebrations

Such a fun week celebrating Elijah's 5th birthday!! The actual birth date was last Sunday and we had a low key day close to home. We went out with family for brunch and dinner, so Elijah had two free desserts with candles to blow out. Had planned to visit the science museum during the day, but the birthday boy wanted to chill at home and play with his new Hungry Hippo game isntead.


The official celebration took place at our house. We have limited space so just stuck with family and the boys from Elijah's class this year. His school music teacher performed for the kidddos and we had a great robot cake from Deerfield Bakery (thank you, Gilia!!)
